Williamsburg, VA – Williamsburg Gymnastics is thrilled to announce the 20th Annual Astronaut Dave Brown Memorial Gymnastics Invitational, set to take place over two weekends this December at their facility on Tewning Road. This year’s event promises to be a celebration of athletic excellence and community support, with over 400 gymnasts from Virginia and surrounding states expected to compete.

The invitational, scheduled for December 7–8 for boys and December 14–15 for girls, honors the legacy of Astronaut Dave Brown, a former College of William & Mary gymnast, U.S. Navy Flight Surgeon, and NASA astronaut. Brown, who tragically lost his life in the 2003 Columbia Space Shuttle disaster, was a dedicated scholar-athlete who believed in the potential of gymnastics to foster personal growth, discipline, and a commitment to excellence.

“We’re incredibly proud to host this competition each year in memory of Dave Brown,” said Pete and Cindy Walker of Williamsburg Gymnastics. “It’s an opportunity to remember a local hero and inspire young gymnasts to pursue both academic and athletic success, just as he did.”

In addition to showcasing outstanding talent, the invitational serves as a key fundraiser for Williamsburg Gymnastics, helping to support training programs and facility needs. Local businesses are invited to participate as sponsors at various levels, contributing to the success of the event while gaining visibility in the community.
